Whitney performing with her then-husband Bobbi Brown. They married in 1992, divorced in 2007. Their marriage was turbulent, with reports of drugs addiction, jealousy, violence, physical abuse and bisexuality. He was also unfaithful and promiscous. He already had 3 other children when he married her. The end of her career and self-destruction started right after her marriage. Whitney said he was her drug and she never did anything without him. They bought cocaine by the kilos and did drugs daily. Sounds like he turned her into a drug addict to control her and she being emotionally weak was easy to bully. O dear....a sweet god-loving girl who grew up in church....she was not "streetsmart"...and chose the wrong man to love. Very sad.

Digital 2D - MI4 Ghost Protocol movie at GSC Maxx Cinema Berjaya Times Square - Good!

I watched the 2D movie Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol last night. Never had watching a movie been so exciting for me that made my old heart jump and beat so much faster. Old me let out a lot of "oohs and "aahhs" at the fast paced action, especially the climbing/swinging scene of Tom Cruise at The Burj Khalifa Tower. Gave me vertigo!

This sensational exciting experience was possible only by watching it in Maxx Cinema, with its wide big celluloid screen and terrific sound systems. It was like what we used to say many years ago in the 1980's a "sense-surround" feeling. I grew up in the 1960's watching movies in big screen stand-alone cinemas of Shaw Brothers and Cathay Organisation that seats from 1000 to 1500 people. All these old cinemas have closed down and the new cineplexes in shopping malls took over. The Maxx cinema experience should be the only way to watch movies as it captures the viewer's imagination making them feel like they are part of the action in the movie.

I sat here at the Rest area (near the cinema) to rest. It has a close view of the roller coaster tracks.

I sat and waited, hoping to catch a close view of people screaming on the roller coaster as it climbs up, but at 8.45pm the ride was empty - no passengers riding, and it looked more like a "ghost ride".

Old Shaw Brothers' B B Park

While Berjaya Times Square has taken over as the new amusement center with its thrilling indoor theme park, let us not forget the well loved old amusement center - the old Shaw Brothers' B B Park. It was demolished in the early 1970's to make way for Sungei Wang and Bukit Bintang Plaza which opened in 1977. The Bukit Bintang Plaza's main entrance is located in this spot now.

B B Park - my childhood haunt. This is the main entrance on Bukit Bintang Road but we used to enter BBPark through its back gate (from Imbi Road).

Mr. Cheong Yoke Choy's old mansion's bomb shelter

Going back to Times Square brings back childhood memories. I was born and grew up near Times Square. The site of Times Square used to be Cheong Yoke Choy's old mansion, a well known rich chinese man in the early 1900's. His mansion's front entrance faces Pudu Road (Pudu Jail). In the 1960's when I was a kid, we and some neighbours sneaked into his vast compound one afternoon through an opening at the back perimeter fencing, through his small rambutan orchard, to do some exploring. We wanted to see for ourselves the much talked about bomb shelter in his backyard, for hiding from Japanese bombings when Japan invaded Malaya. The rich chinaman's mansion and the bomb shelter was an enigma to us nosy inquisitive kampung kids. Satisfy our curiosity we did!

After walking through the rambutan trees and bitten by lots of mosquitoes, we found the bomb shelter built in an open field which is a distance behind the mansion. I saw a small entrance (sort of looked like a small cave to me, maybe about 6 or 7 feet high and 7 or 8 feet width) but it was stinking with urine and I just hung around near the entrance because I was afraid to walk inside. The bomb shelter's entrance faces the direction of the old mansion (which is the direction of Pudu Jail). If I remembered correctly, the shelter had 2 openings for entry or exit, and its sort of U-shaped. The sloping tunnel dugged into the ground leading deeper into the shelter was bricked up. If you are looking down from above the air, all you see is a field of green grass with a higher mound in the middle.

With Times Square built on it, the location of Cheong Yoke Choy's old mansion's bomb shelter would roughly be in this location of Times Square's main entrance and lobby. So each time I walk into this entrance, childhood memories of that afternoon of trespassing brings a smile to my face.

Opposite of Times Square is Sungei Wang, and KL's Golden Triangle. This premier tourist district of Imbi Road, Bukit Bintang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Alor used to be a settlement for the early Chinese immigrants/labourers who arrived from China in the early 19th century. All these early Chinese pioneers (whom we call chinaman in the old days) contributed to the growth and development of Kuala Lumpur leading to its prosperity today. If you are of Chinese descent, and if you are in this tourist district, take some time to ponder Kuala Lumpur's history....how these chinamen built up the chinese community and where we are heading to.

Istana Negara Malaysia - The New Royal Palace of Malaysia in Jalan Duta.
Finally a new palace to replace the old spooky palace.

On 15 Nov 2011 at 10.25am, the King's private flag was raised in the New Palace for the first time.

Went to have a look at our brand new National Palace out of curiosity. The Palace building is situated on top of a gentle hillslope with a commanding view of the KL skyline. Visible in the distance is the Twin Towers and KL Tower. The landscaping and gentle hilllocks on the left and right side of the Palace looks in tune with chinese "feng shui" - representing the Dragon and Tiger. Another small hillock in front representing the Turtle with a water feature - a small pond.

There are not many tourists and the place looked deserted. Workers are seen working on the landscaping. The King (our Agong) has not moved in yet, but will the King really reside/live in this new Palace? All the previous Agongs did not reside in the Old Palace except the First Agong. Why? Some say its spooky and haunted.

After Malaysia achieved its independence on 31 August 1957, the first appointed Agong moved into that (old) Palace in Jalan Istana near Jalan Syed Putra. Two and a half years later, on 1st April 1960, he died in his sleep in that Palace. His teak coffin and lying in state took place in the Banquet Hall.

Some facts about this old palace: This double-storey mansion was built in 1928 by Chan Wing, a Chinese immigrant from Canton who made his millions through tin mining. I heard stories from my ancestors that the "feng shui" of the mansion was not auspicious and the location in geomancy terms was on a "white tiger", therefore occupants of this mansion would not enjoy longevity. (This would make an interesting urban legend. Are geomancy and feng shui for real?)

Chan Wing fled to India with his numerous wives and family during the Japanese occupation and the Japanese army took over the mansion. After the war, it was sold, changed ownerships a couple of times. The Sultan of Selangor was using it as his palace when it was taken over hastily by the new government to be used as a royal palace for the soon-to-be first Agong (from Negri Sembilan), when the country obtained independence from the British in 1957.

The next (second) Agong, the Sultan of Selangor, died from a mysterious unidentified illness on the day appointed for his official installation as Agong on 1st Sept 1960. He died at the guest palace in Istana Tetamu (Near Carcosa) in Taman Tasik Seri Perdana where he was staying while waiting to be installed as Agong. Istana Tetamu was previously owned by the British goverment. It was opened in 1913 and named Governor's House, then named King's House to house the British King. Later renamed to Istana Tetamu after the Malaysian government took over the mansion.

The second Agong didnt get installed officially, died 5 months after the first Agong. The first Agong didnt complete his term of Kingship of 5 years. He died in his sleep inside the old palace...probably his dead soul is still reigning there.
Since then all the other Agongs reside at their own private residences in Kuala Lumpur. The Palace was used for ceremonial purposes only.

The new palace has more privacy, surrounded by a fringe of natural forest. It will be difficult for people who intends to march and present any political petition to the King like before. If all the access roads (all flyovers) leading to the new palace are closed and blocked off, no one can go near the Palace.

Our 14th King was installed this morning. The oath taking and signing ceremony was shown live on TV. Presenting our new King (84 years old) and Queen from Kedah State, who will reign for 5 years beginning today. (The King is merely a figurehead and does not rule the country. Power is in the hands of the Prime Minister and an elected government.)

List of Agongs (Kings) since Independence Day in 1957

1. YANG DI-PERTUAN BESAR OF NEGRI SEMBILAN (Born 24.8.1895 - Died 1.4.60)
Tuanku Abdul Rahman Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Muhammad. He was installed as the first Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Sept 2, 1957 (at the age of 62), but died while in office on April 1, 1960.
Tenure: Aug 3, 1957 - April 1, 1960.

2. SULTAN OF SELANGOR (Born 13.5.1898 - Died 1.9.60)
Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah Al-Haj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ala’iddin Sulaiman Shah. He died on Sept 1, 1960, just hours before his installation as the second Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Tenure: He had been performing the duties of Yang di-Pertuan Agong since April 4, 1960 (62 years old), following the death of Tuanku Abdul Rahman.

3. RAJA OF PERLIS (Born 25.11.1920 - Died 16.4.2000)
Tuanku Syed Putra Ibni Almarhum Syed Hassan Jamalullail. He was installed as the third Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Jan 4, 1961, at the age of 40, making him the youngest ruler to have been elected to the post.
Tenure: Sept 21, 1960 - Sept 20, 1965.

4. SULTAN OF TERENGGANU (Born 24.1.1907 - Died 20.9.79)
Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Zainal Abidin. He was installed as the fourth Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Sept 21, 1965, at the age of 58.
Tenure: Sept 21, 1965 - Sept 20, 1970.

5. SULTAN OF KEDAH (Born 28.11.27)
Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah. Installed as the fifth Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Feb 20, 1971, at the age of 44.
Tenure: Jan 21, 1970 - Sept 20, 1975.

6. SULTAN OF KELANTAN (Born 10.12.17 - Died 1979)
Sultan Yahya Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ibrahim. He was installed as the sixth Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Feb 28, 1976, at the age of 59, but died while in office on March 29, 1979.
Tenure: Sept 21, 1975 - March 29, 1979.

7. SULTAN OF PAHANG (Born 24.10.30)
Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Abu Bakar Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mu’adzam Shah. He was installed as the seventh Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 10, 1980, at the age of 50.
Tenure: April 26, 1979 - April 25, 1984.

8. SULTAN OF JOHOR (Born 8.4.32 - Died 22.1.2010)
Sultan Mahmood Iskandar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Ismail. He was installed as the eighth Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Nov 15, 1984, at the age of 57.
Tenure: April 15, 1984 - April 25, 1989.

9. SULTAN OF PERAK (Born 19.4.28)
Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yussuff Izzuddin Ghafarullahulahu Shah. He was installed as the ninth Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Sept 18, 1989, at the age of 61.
Tenure: April 26, 1989 - April 25, 1994.

10. YANG DI-PERTUAN BESAR OF NEGERI SEMBILAN (Born 19.7.22 - Died 27.12.2008))
Tuanku Ja’afar Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Rahman. He was installed as the 10th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Sept 22, 1994, at the age of 72.
Tenure: April 16, 1994 - April 25, 1999.

11. SULTAN OF SELANGOR (Born 8.3.26 - Died 21.11.2001)
Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Hishamuddin Alam Shah. He was installed as the 11th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Sept 23, 1999, at the age of 73, but died while in office on Nov 21, 2001.
Tenure: April 26, 1999 - Nov 21, 2001.

12. RAJA OF PERLIS (Born 17.5.43)
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail. He was installed as the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on April 25, 2002, at the age of 59.
Tenure: Dec 13, 2001 - Dec 13, 2006.

13. SULTAN OF TERENGGANU (Born 22.1.62)
Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah. He was installed as the 13th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on April 26, 2007, at the age of 45.
Tenure: Dec 13, 2006 - Dec 12, 2011.

14. SULTAN OF KEDAH (Born 28.11.27) His second time as Agong. (formerly 5th Agong).
Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah. He was elected the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong at the Meeting of the Conference of Rulers on Oct 13, 2011.
His tenure started today Dec 13, 2011.
He is 84 years old now. By the time he finishes his term he will be 89 years old. Hope he does not die while in office. Or maybe they like to die while they are King - grand burial. Whatever...wait and see.

Some trivia: The Agongs are elected by the Conference of Rulers which consists of all the Sultans.
The current Sultan of Johor is of mixed parentage (malay and caucasian).
The current Sultan of Selangor is divorced. His father died while in office as Agong, his grandfather died on his installation day as Agong. So is he fearful of being jinxed? His male heir from his second marriage is of mixed parentage too (malay and caucasian). His two daughters from his first marriage are mixed-race too = (3/4 malay 1/4 chinese). His ex-wife's mother from his 1st marriage was chinese.

911 - 10th anniversary today!

Today is the 10th anniversary of the Al-Qaeda muslim terrorist attack on America. Four aeroplanes were hijacked and crashed into targets. Two (Flt 11 and 175) crashed into the World Trade Center, the 3rd (Flt 77) onto Pentagon and the 4th (Flt 93) thwarted by some passengers missed target and crashed in Pennsylvania. Its such a sad day in history, and we need to remind ourselves that terrorist threats still exist. Three Malaysians working in the WTC died.

It was in the news that some of the terrorists members had conducted meetings in Malaysia prior to 911.

Malaysian roads are not safe for walking as well as driving alone. Too many robbers. I have been a victim too, a robber grabbed my gold necklace frorm behind my neck. Luckily I grabbed my necklace and it broke and the lone malay man fled on his motorbike. This happened beside Times Square. Few weeks ago I saw the 2 malay snatch thieves who snatched my daughter's handbag in broad daylight in Seri Petaling. The pillion rider thief looks very fit and has the physique of a policeman. The motobike is "silent", you wont hear it coming. So be careful.

Is DAPHNE IKING pregnant for the second time? I was watching her morning TV talk show "BELLA" yesterday and she looks more rounded especially her waistline. She looks a picture of health and glowing with happiness. Good for her. She may have made some mistakes but her fortitude and strength at withstanding this public scandal must be admired.

On her show this morning which happens to be Easter Monday, she was wearing a bright red shift dress and her baby bump was very visible and she looked a very radiant expecting mom. Looked like four or five months pregnant. Is that the reason for the quick marriage. So her daughter will be getting a new sibling soon and this is good news as an only child is a lonely child, never have one child if possible.

Andy lau bought a luxury bungalow in Ampang for his pregnant wife according to newspaper reports. Since their Bukit Jalil home is known to journalists, fans and especially neighbors, he has no choice. No privacy anymore. So this time his new location is more expensive, more exclusive and secluded, meaning lesser Chinese neighbors. His first house for his wife was in OUG (near wet market) which was more than 20 years. Then few years ago he bought in Taman Esplanade Bukit Jalil. Now Ampang?...drastic change of location...

The government is currently building an LRT station which is quite near to his Bukit Jalil area. This is the extension of the current LRT services from the LRT Seri Petaling station to Puchong and Putrajaya.
He really should buy a bungalow in The Mines Resort (where our previous PM Mahathir Mohamed) lives, then he won't have nosy neighbors photographing him...haha..and high security.

Andy's wife due to give birth in May or June 2012 if the pregnancy goes smoothly without any unfortunate incident. A lot of people of chinese descent likes to have babies next year which is the "Chinese Year of the Dragon". Its a baby girl!

While reading about this disaster today and seeing how the Japanese maintain social order and discipline while queuing up for hours to buy food brought tears to my eyes. There was no looting and neighbours helped and co-operated with each other. Salute them. I want neighbours like them.

Defenceless sea turtles being robbed of their eggs (descendants) off the coast in Costa Rica. Their extinction definitely not due to global warming.

Poor sea turtles. The eggs are collected and sold to be eaten. More than 30 years ago I too bought Giant Leatherback sea turtle's eggs from a malay colleague who got it from a supplier in Terengganu. Its shell is soft and nothing tasty about it. That was the first and last time I bought 'cos I felt it was wrong and should not encourage eggs stealing from wild endangered species.

Was reading about the lives of some famous Chinese women, and came across this Chinese writer Zhang Ailing (Eileen Chang). The HK film LUST CAUTION, starring Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Wang Lee Hom (one scene was filmed in Ipoh); was based on her short novel which took her 20 years to complete. Having seen that movie twice I was intrigued by the writer and her mind and now having read about her life I understood. She writes mostly about love and hate. She died at age 75.

Two weeks ago I saw on tv news, our Tourism Minister apologising for the English spelling mistakes found in Malaysia's brochures used at the Shanghai World Expo which ended on 31 Oct. She said there was no mistakes when the brochure was designed and written. To save cost they had it printed in Shanghai. The Chinese printers were obviously not fluent in the English language, and had made the spelling mistakes. Don't the Malaysian staff check and follow up to ensure accuracy? Where is their efficency.....Instead they just conveniently blame it on the Chinese.

My baggage was stolen by a fellow passenger on same Airasia flight from Bali to Kuala Lumpur LCCT airport on 15th September 2010. Quick reporting of lost baggage and repeated phonecalls intercepted the thieving couple. They had left the wife's Crocodile suitcase behind which was the only one left on the revolving conveyor belt. Airasia staff checked the details and rang the tour leader who did the group-check-in. Tour leader rang thief who said she collected correctly her baggage and that Airasia staff made mistake. When I heard this I got angry, personally rang tour leader Mr. Lee and told him that the thief's suitcase is right in front of me. reading out her name and address tag. Mr. Lee then realised its serious and rang thief again and ask them to return to airport. I personally rang the thief's husband (hp no. given by Mr Lee), scolded him and asked him to come back to airport to return my suitcase. They finally returned my Pierre Cardin suitcase, 2 hours after the plane landed at 11.15pm. By then I was waiting for them in the LCCT police station. Argument ensued. Thief had no guilt complex and was aggresively defensive. Thief asked her husband not to speak and she did all the defending. I was happy to see my suitcase and eager to go home. It was 2am, I got them to pay for my taxi home (RM110). However they were still at the Police Station when I left. Wondered if they had to pay to get out of the police station. They said the husband took my suitcase by mistake. I hope she will stop stealing in future.

Look at the photos and compare. Its not even similar. Whats your verdict.

The thief's Crocodile suitcase (very light in weight, probably half-empty). Its grey colour. Her name Eileen Ee, and address tag on handle. (If someone is so careful to put a tag on it, wouldn't they check if its their baggage when collecting from conveyor belt...or when putting it on a trolley....or when walking out....or when loading it into their car? If its a mistake, it would have been noticed during one of these moments. My verdict: planned and deliberate theft marked by greed and opportunity.

My bright red Pierre Cardin. Baggage weight 30kg. with all my Bali goodies inside. Before my trip I prayed for God to protect my suitcase as well, first time I specifically included my suitcase, and baggage drama unfolds. God either has a sense of humour or he wants me to catch a thief. This incident has been a very good practical learning experience for me and especially MM. I believe everything happens for a good reason. I trust in you God. I praise you God. Thank you God.

Details of the owner was traced through baggage ID tag. Intercepting the thief was possible because: 1) she left her baggage behind and left airport saying she collected her bag (evidence she stole someone else's). 2) she travelled with a tour group, so we could ring her tour members/friends and tell them what happened.

Brittany Murphy - dead because of "molds" infection?

I had trouble sleeping last nite after reading about Brittany Murphy and her husband's deaths. It reminded me of my late mother's death. When she was sick and dying in hospital, a blood sample was taken and a culture was done to find out what was infecting her. The results showed "fungus" present in her bloodstream. Previously there was a moldy wall in her bedroom. That wall separates her bedroom and the bathroom. Most homes have some molds especially in bathrooms.

This post serves as a reminder to me to keep my house dry and clean and be pro-active and take precautions. Prevention is the key.... especially young people need to spend time cleaning every corner of their house regularly and not glued to their laptops....

Wise to wear gloves, masks and goggles when cleaning and clearing out old dusty junk.

Actress Brittany Murphy, 32 years old, died of cardiac arrest in Dec 2009 in her bedroom. Cause of death - pneumonia and severe anemia. During investigation some mold was found but they deemed it not a contributing factor to her death. Everyone suspect she was doing drugs or overdose.

Then her husband Simon Monjack, 39 years old, died 5 months later in May 2010 in the same bedroom. Cause of death was also pneumonia and anemia. So now the health inspectors suspect mold.
The house's previous owner was Britney Spears who lived here when she was with Justine Timberlake. Murphy bought it in 2003.

In Bangkok - Riots, gunfire, killings, arson, curfew ............a sad state of affairs, especially for innocent citizens not involved in the protesting and demonstrations.

Seeing the news on tv about Bangkok made me very nervous and scared. There was a "sinking" feeling in my heart...fear..anxiety...almost paranoia...

I have lived through such events and would never want to go through it ever again. My personal experience in my town Kuala Lumpur on May 13, 1969. A cruel soldier fired at me and my grandma, we were indoors at a first floor window of the Imbi Road Chinese Primary school where we had taken refuge, and he just fired at us from 60 or 70 feet away. He is a murderer. The bullet missed us but my grandma passed away few days later. Her funeral was hurriedly conducted and relatives could not come because there was a curfew. A few nights earlier another bullet had been fired into the classroom which was aimed at my elder sister's head who was leaning against the window pane. Luckily it missed her head but hit the flourescent lamp on the ceiling. Everyone cowered in deathly fear. The two bullets have been too much for grandma - scared her to death really

Thank God for keeping the rest of us safe.

My second experience was in China - Beijing Tianamen Square Massacre - June 4, 1989. I was very lucky. I was living in Shanghai and our "American HQ" in Beijing got "wind" and issued directive to all its "dependants" to evacuate before the week-end. Their "wind" is that the military is moving in to crush the rebellion. There was no more air tickets available, but thank God because I had a young child with me, the Airlines was kind enough to release 1st class seats reserved for the Chinese Communist Party Officials to us. So I escaped the chaos, and was safely home when the massacre started.

Meteor "fireball" in Wisconsin

Read and see a video of a spectacular meteor "fireball" hitting earth on April 14 in USA. Never heard of a meteor like this landing in Malaysia. (Is it good or bad?) Should it come, it should land in Putrajaya.

So far I have seen a comet - Hale-Bopp - in April 1997 at my front door with the naked eye. After searching the skies for nearly a month and after many days of rainy weather, I found it one evening after sunset in the west (NW) very low just above the rooftops of the houses. It was fuzzy and it didnt have a 'long tail'. It was a very exciting and unforgettable moment for me seeing a comet for the first time in my life! It is different from a "shooting star" or meteor shower which streaks across the sky. I have seen only one shooting star unexpectedly at dawn in the South, from my front door in January 1999.

Recap my first comet sighting

A photo of Hale-Bopp comet photographed by Chris Stevenson in 1997. The comet I saw was not as spectacular as in this photo. By the time I saw it, the comet was very low on the horizon, just above the rooftops and in this orientation, but fuzzy and with no tail. The next night it has "gone" out of view. How lucky I was.
The mysteries of our universe and deep space never fails to fascinate me.

Teoh Beng Hock's fiancee Soh Cher Wei gave birth to a 2.9kg son on 22 February 2010, the 9th day of Tiger Year, in Batu Pahat, Johor. This is good news in the midst of tragedy the family went through. The government gave permission to insert Teoh's name as the Father in the birth certificate. (He died mysteriously/murdered? 2 or 3 days before his marriage registration day.)

His son is named Teoh Er Jia. God bless little Teoh.

Was reading about the Haiti earthquake survivor - a man who spent 11 days buried in the ruins of a hotel grocery store. He spent his time praying, reciting psalms and sleeping. He was not afraid because he knew people were searching and would come for him. From his hospital bed after being rescued, the first thing he want to do was to find a church and give thanks to God. Wonderful miracle.

I cant believe my ears when I heard the news on radio about an earthquake in Batu Niah, Sarawak! 3.2 on the Richter scale. On Dec 23 last year, 12.13pm, a quake occured at the same area 3.3 Richter scale. Malaysia is beginning to have earthquakes and it is scary. I have been on an "earthquake simulator" at the Petronas Science Center and I didnt like the shakiness and vibration, makes me dizzy, and we were sitting down. Cant imagine how it would be like standing up on quaking ground - petrified.

Year 2010 started with an annular solar eclipse on January 15. Not a total eclipse, still can see a 'ring'. This is the longest (more than 11 minutes) annular eclipse of this millenium, meaning it wont happen again until 1000 years later!

Imagine in ancient times when people were not so informed about astro-science, and suddenly seeing the sun likes this would scare them. In cantonese they called this "heaven dog eat sun". In old China during my ancestors time, frightened villagers would beat drums and gongs to frighten the 'heaven dog' away - so said my late grandma. Modern day we know the heaven dog is actually our moon.

Something of interest considering the fact that MM and her friend were stung by jellyfish in Penang in early December.
(Update 28 Jan 10: The friend is still suffering from the effects of the sting more than 1 month later in the form of rashes and boils appearing. Needed 2 more jabs to counter the toxin. The 1st week after the sting she had vomiting and diarrhoea. Some say the body takes a year to be fully recovered.)

Yesterday some muslim youths set fire and burnt the Metro Tabernacle Church in Desa Melawati. The ground floor of the church was totally burnt.

Another 2 churches were attacked as well with petrol bombs thrown into the premises but the bomb did not ignite, thank God. They were the Assumption Church and Life Chapel both in Petaling Jaya.

(A month ago we attended a wedding in Assumption Church and only a week ago our former Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi's Catholic father-in-law passed away and the memorial service was held there.) Hmmm.....

Was reading about her biography and looking for her songs on youtube. A lot of singers die un-natural deaths. yucks. Some trivia.

Born: 29-1-53. At 14 years old she stopped schooling and sang professionlly.

Teresa passed away while on holiday in Suite 1502, Imperial Mae Ping Hotel, Chiang Mai, on 8.5.95 - 42 years old. Some say she collapsed naked on the hallway of the Imperial Hotel due to severe asthma attack calling for "mama". How tragic. The Thai newspaper published pictures of her naked corpse. Newspapers reported there were some superficial bruises on her head, neck and leg. In a Malaysian chinese newspaper's photo, I saw a small bruise on her neck but unfortunately I could not read chinese while nothing much was reported in English newspapers. It was unsure if the bruises were caused before her death or by the medical team while trying to save her.

Her french boyfriend nowhere around. Some say they had an argument over the bf's flirting with Thai girls. (Those scantilly-dressed sexy Thai sexworkers probably). Yet some say she stayed back alone at the hotel and didnt join her friends because she complained she was not feeling well.

I believe she wouldn't have died if she was single, lesser emotional stress. This frenchman might have contributed to her early death. Inter-culture relationships can be very stressful. Try it yourself, or just read about the ex-Fench President and their scandals and you will understand.

Missing my old Acer 15" laptop - hard disk damaged, need to be replaced with new part. Gotta find repairer. Meantime trying to get use to my new mini netbook 10". In actual fact the screen is only 5" (h) x 8.7" (w) which is tiny and cant view the webpage in full. (The 10" description is the diagonal measurement of the screen). Also has to get use to Windows 7 and I haven't learnt how to save photos with the card reader thing yet. So this explains why the blogging has stopped temporarily cos this aunty needs a longer time to learn new technology (trial & error without spoiling the new computer). (sigh...)

....and this mini gets 'hot' quicker, so not practical for users who really needs to do work on it for longer hours. As a spare computer to carry around ok. And its quite slow, so for people who have all the time in the world waiting for the page to load. Patience is needed.

College girl duped by medium into having sex

A 20-year-old female college student (studying nutrition) in KL was duped into having sex with a 50-year-old 'medium'.

She was having a streak of bad luck, things not going well in her life. In April, friends recommend her to see a medium known as Master Choy. He told her she wont get rid of her bad luck unless she has sex with a married man. After much persuasion she agreed to have sex with him. Before sex, he asked her to strip naked and pose for some photos. Few months later her bad luck did not change but got worse - she had contracted a sexually transmitted disease from him!

When she realised she had been duped, she went back and threatened to expose him. He slapped her and warned that he will post her nude photos on the internet. He also gave her a death threat if she report him to the police.

She went to MCA for help. Now she is getting a lawyer to file a case against him.

(I think that scum has already circulated her nude photos around town. Girls especially college students staying away from home, please dont be so naive and gullible to believe that a total stranger has the power to change your bad luck! Only God has that power. Trust and surrender your life to God. And what friends are those who recommended her to see him - sounds more like enemy to me.)

This news shocked me today - weak earthquakes (3.0 Richter scale) felt in Kuala Pilah.

Sunday 29.11.09 : 1st quake 2.30 pm
Monday 30.11.09 : 2nd quake 12.15 am,
3rd quake 9.10am,
4th quake 2.30pm epicentre 22km east of Seremban. (the difference is there is an epicentre here, not just a tremor....is there a crack in the earth crust down below here?.)

Bukit Tinggi in Pahang also suffers from tremors or earthquakes for the past few years. Residents has complained of plates and crockery rattling in their kitchen the past few years but because of the presence of a holiday resort, it is seldom reported in the news.

Sooner or later more of Malaysia will come under the earthquake zone. Even now in my area, tremors are felt in the high-rise apartments each time Sumatra quakes and residents got to leave their homes. Gay serial rapist - Lim Kok Foo, 42 years old, former Negri Sembilan top student, school athlete in his Seremban school is jailed 20 years in Perth.

He pretended to be a off duty cab driver hanging outside bars and nightclubs, and offered to drive the intoxicated young men home. He detoured to his own home, give them more alcohol to make them completely drunk until they pass out or drugged them. Sexually assault, rape and videotaping the scene. He recorded down the dates, names and addresses of his victims. There were more than 100 victims over a 4 year period from 2003 to 2007.

On 7.7.07 he offered a lift to a 30 year old British man outside a nightclub. He stabbed that man in his car when he was outside the man's house. The man reported to police and remembered some details of the car licence plate. 3 days later police tracked down the man, searched his home and found the videotapes.

As we all know the Political Aide of the Opposition Party led Selangor State Administration, died after being taken for questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on July 16. His body was found lying on the 5th floor. Must have been thrown out of the 14th floor window by the interrogators. Government said its suicide but the whole nation know its homicide. Dr Pornthip, from the post-mortem photos shown to her, believes he could have been tortured, sodomised, strangled and then thrown out.

So now after 129 days of his death, his body is exhumed for a second autopsy.

Selangor State hired Thai forensic pathologist - Dr Pornthip to assist in the autopsy. She was involved in the investigations of David Carradine's hanging death in a hotel in Bangkok.

MACC hired prominent British forensic pathologist to observe - Dr Peter Vanezis. He was previously hired by Harrods owner, Al-Fayed to determine if the driver of the car that Princess Diana died in was drunk. Also was involved in the tests to find out how the 5,300 year old Alps "Iceman" mummy died.

Whole nation awaiting updates on this case on Dec 9.

Teoh leaves behind his pregnant fiancee. He died 3 days before his marriage. His family conducted a taoist ceremony marriage between his dead soul and his fiancee - so considered 'married' spiritually. During the ceremony, a live cockerel was used as a substitute for the dead Teoh - she was standing next to the cockerel and praying at the altar.

P/s. Teoh's wife gave birth to a son on 22 February 2010; the 9th day of Chinese New Year of the Tiger. 2.9kg. His baby son is named Teoh Er Jia.

Cosmetic surgery deaths

Five years ago, a 43 year-old malay diabetic woman died 2 days after abdominal liposuction at a clinic in Bangsar. Suffered a cardiac arrest at the end of surgery, but was resuscitated and then sent to a hospital intensive care. Coma. Post-mortem revealed extensive internal haemorrage. So the 39 year-old British husband sued doctors. Today, the doctors were found not negligent. Is this fair or not? The doctors said they had told customers beforehand that there are risks involved. Malaysian judiciary.....sucks!!

She wanted to remove excess abdominal fats after giving birth to two children.

Rain's new movie Ninja Assassin

Rain rain rain....a lot of countries are flooding due to the rainy weather and last night was so cold for a normally sunny hot tropical place like ours. I took a look at the thermometer in my room and it showed 26 degrees, windows closed with no airconditioning and no fan. Outdoors would be colder. It was a cosy night.

Was watching the news on TV when they showed Rain, the Korean singer, talking about his new movie - Ninja Assassin. He trained for 8 months, ate only chicken breast, sweet potatoes, vegetables, no sugar and no salt resulting in a muscular body.
Rain said, no more work outs after finishing the movie - he just wants to eat lots of junk food and dance!

Nice ninja boy.

The Movie is opening in KL on 26 November. Shall I go and watch the movie or not? I enjoyed his concert here 2 years ago but ninjas...I am not sure; though the only ninjas I know are turtles - which I saw on tv ages ago - The Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles.... He..he..he... People who want to lose weight should go see to get inspired to work out and get a fit body.

Agnes Wong Siew Teng, 29 years old.

Went to work in UK in 2003. In Jan 2007 while working as a babysitter in Manchester - killed a 17 months-old chinese baby. She swung the boy by his ankles and smashed his head on the wall with so much force that his brain had shifted position in the skull. Also tortured him with a hairdryer, bite and burn marks, and beaten with a ruler so forceful that the ruler also broke. Sadistic. Child died of internal brain bleeding. Jailed 5 years, served 2-1/2 years jail term, now freed. UK government dont want such criminals to remain there - flew her back to KL on 2 Nov 2009 and paid her some money (4500 pounds) to start over here.

So Malaysian mothers beware - be careful who you employ as a babysitter for your precious children; or other types of employment.

Was reading today's news about him. Havent heard of new geniuses here for a long time after the previous 2 (unfortunate) Malaysian geniuses. Parents discovered his uniqueness when he was 4 years old and solved a mathematic question for his 10 year old brother.

- CEO of two companies (run by his mother) selling vitamins under the brand "Adi".

Most of his inspirations come in the middle of the night. Active brains - dont sleep much. He sleeps at 4am to 10am. From 12 midnite to 4am, he is most active, playing or doing his mathematics questions given by his father. (He never do the questions in front of his parents. Strange.)

We will wait and see how he turns out 10 years from now. While reading and researching about geniuses, it is better to be normal rather than 'genius' because not every genius will turn out to be like Einstein.

(BTW Einstein was not a good husband and father and his work comes first. His wife is also a genius but pity her. One son is schizophrenic. This story for another day.)

2) Chiang Ti Ming (Born in Seremban - 1976) : Malaysian Chinese boy genius. IQ exceeded 180.

- 13 years old; youngest student to be ever admitted to California Institute of Technology (CALTECH) to study physics. His father accompanied him to California and live there to look after him.

- Well respected by his fellow classmates and lots of achievements, awards, results were in the top 5%.

- Graduated with a Doctorate in Particle Physics from Cornell University in New York.

Started working in US, and then suddenly in 2002 when he was 26 years old, local newspapers reported that he was admitted to hospital here for depression and withdrawal symptoms. I was very shocked when I heard the news on TV. The whole nation was so awed by him when he first came into the limelight at 12 years old. It seems that he does not talk and just sleeps in his bed all day.

On January 6, 2007 (31 years old) he passed away. So sad and the family is too distraught to say anything. Their 4-year old daughter who was also said to be a genius had drowned in a swimming pool at the Seremban International Golf club in 1993. (Ti Ming was about 17 years old then.) Double tragedy.

Why would a genius suddenly become so withdrawn. I so want to know the answer. Is it acute clinical depression? Brain burn out? Probably his brain neurons, cells, had been worn out?

3) Sufiah Yusof (Born 1984)

Posing outside Oxford (13 years old) with father and sister. (Her 4 siblings are all prodigies too. Smart parents too but the father is a swindler and molester and been jailed twice)

At 13 years old, youngest student to be accepted at Oxford University to study mathematics. Ran away from Oxford at age 17. Lost interest in studies. (Why leh? Must be distracted by boys loh.)

Two years later went back to Oxford but failed to finish. At 19 years old married a trainee lawyer at Oxford. Husband got a job in Singapore. While at Singapore she wanted a divorce saying she want to go back to study. So marriage ended after 13 months. Husband said he was becoming more conformed to muslim ways while she was straying away from her muslim ways. Aha....in London can drink alcohol/beer and not get rotan (caned).

Note: A 32 year old malay woman was sentenced to 6 strokes of the rotan by the Syariah Court (Islamic) in July 09 for drinking beer in a hotel lounge. She was also fined RM5,000

19 years old - marriage. (Husband and father - similar headshape)

Sufiah went back to London alone to study economics and was in some debts. She was at a bar when a woman approached her and asked if she want to be an escort. She went home, researched on the internet and contacted an escort agency. She wanted to make money fast. As you know social escorts are prostitutes too. She uses the name Shilpa Lee. She later worked as a prostitute in her flat advertising her services on the net. Then an undercover reporter broke the story and Malaysia was in the world news once again

4) Name : A. C. (Shall not reveal her full name)

Another brainy (Born 6 Aug 1973) American female (Japanese father/German mother), Mensa member, rebelled and ran away from home at 17 years old.

When she was 14 years old, a 15 year old boy ask her out and say he will pick her up at 2am. Naive and gullible. Would a sane girl accept such a first date? What evil intentions the boy is having and no respect for her. Imagine 2am and she sneaked out. At 3am police officers found them in the parked car, pick them and sent her home. Of course her father was angry and clocked her on the head. This is pure stupidity for a teenage girl. Every good caring parent in the world would be angry.

(God says because of rebellion - there must be authority. Thats why good caring parents must discipline their children if they love them.)

17 years old - After finishing her high school, while waiting for college (on scholarship) to start, she ran away from home. She lived on the streets and slept with strangers just so she can have a meal and a place to sleep for the night. Bodoh! Degrading herself for the sake of rebellion. So stubborn and refuse to humble herself to go back home to her parents. She felt that her parents were strict with her but when she was sent to a foster home, they were strict too. So its not the parents fault but the way these geeks think, they are caught in their own self-righteous world. In the end never completed college.

She wanted fast money and became a go-go dancer, topless waitress and nude pictorials. Someone told her making porn can get more money and she became a pornstar at 22. Pathetically stupid!

3 years ago at 33 years old, she was widowed with 2 kids and no savings. She asked for donations on her website then. She had lost her savings - half through stocks loss and gambled half away. Her dead husband had no money and she had retired from pornwork after giving birth. She now lives in Utah so her kids can have privacy away from her past.

So dont wish for genius descendents. Think twice before sending children to study overseas, for they may end up being corrupted instead.

Her story reminds me of Rose Chan, the legendary striptease queen of Bukit Bintang Park. This story for another day.

Received an email with this prayer which caused a sensation among USA legislators. Pastor Joe Wright prayed this on January 1996 at the opening session of the Kansas House of Representatives. (The prayer was written by Pastor Bob Russell who had earlier used it at the Kentucky Governor's Prayer Breakfast).

So true and we really need to meditate on the words.

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.

We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
