Haiti - teenage girl rescued after 15 days

Another miracle - 17 year old girl rescued from rubble of collapsed school. Stories like this can be so uplifting amid disasters. (Read: UK Telegraph)

....but news like this....of Haitian orphans being stolen, smuggled and sold to foreigners makes my heart cry out and bleeds for them.   1 million children in Haiti vulnerable to abuse and trafficking.

God is wonderful.

Was reading about the Haiti earthquake survivor - a man who spent 11 days buried in the ruins of a hotel grocery store. He spent his time praying, reciting psalms and sleeping. He was not afraid because he knew people were searching and would come for him.  From his hospital bed after being rescued, the first thing he want to do was to find a church and give thanks to God. Wonderful miracle.

CNN news.
Port-au-Prince, Haiti (CNN) -- French rescue workers pulled a 24-year-old man alive from the rubble of a hotel in Haiti on Saturday, 11 days after an earthquake devastated much of the country.

Wismond Jean-Pierre, who had no visible injuries but was severely dehydrated, was immediately loaded into an ambulance and taken to a hospital for treatment.
Lt. Col. Christophe Renou, a rescuer with the French team, called the three-hour effort "a miracle" as he was briefly overcome with emotion. Other members of the team -- assisted by American and Greek workers -- were seen weeping with joy following the rescue.
"This is God," Frank Louvier, the chief of the French rescue team, said as he pointed to the sky.

My favourite Psalm.
The Lord is my shepherd...

King James Version (KJV)
Psalm 23:1-6
1.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2.) He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3.) He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4.) Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5.) Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6.) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Moderate earthquake in Sarawak

25 Jan 10 - Monday morning at 7.47am....Earthquake.....
I cant believe my ears when I heard the news on radio about an earthquake in Batu Niah, Sarawak! 3.2 on the Richter scale.   On Dec 23 last year, 12.13pm, a quake occured at the same area 3.3 Richter scale.  Malaysia is beginning to have earthquakes and it is scary.  I have been on an "earthquake simulator" at the Petronas Science Center and I didnt like the shakiness and vibration, makes me dizzy, and we were sitting down.  Cant imagine how it would be like standing up on quaking ground - petrified.

David Beckham goldenballs groped (molested) by Italian female TV prankster

David became a victim in Milan yesterday.  While being interviewed by a TV reporter, another TV girl prankster came up, wearing yellow rubber gloves and touched his balls!  He was shocked and retreated.  The girl even shouted and said something about his goldenballs.  Read and see video: Click

Northern Hemisphere - very cold snowy weather.

Its very cold for a lot of countries in the North.  Thank God I live in a sunny hot place near the equator. The world is facing nature's wrath - snow, blizzards, storms, floods, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, bush fires, etc....as well as man-made terrorist threats.  Disasters will bankrupt the world soon.

I thought it never rains in southern California.

(Flooded Long Beach - 19 Jan).

Will Niagara Falls be frozen again?  100 years ago in 1911 it was so cold that it was frozen.  Residents who were sleeping suddenly noticed a strange silence.  No sound of the waterfall and water gushing down.  It must have been chilling and eerie to wake up to see this.

Top 10 most expensive car wrecks in history.

#10. Bugatti EB110 ... $500,000
This 1992 $500,000 super-exotic Bugatti EB110 was being driven by a mechanic as part of its annual checkup. He claims there was an oil slick on the road which caused him to lose control and crash into a pole. The owner of the Bugatti is a famous "feel good" guru named Emile Ratelband. Not sure how good he was feeling after this wreck.

#9. Pagani Zonda C12 S ... $650,000
Only 15 Zonda C12 S were ever built, but that didn't stop this owner from driving it like a madhatter. He crashed this beauty in the wee morning hours while driving in Hong Kong .

#8. Mercedes Benz SL 300 .... $950,000
The SL 300 "Gullwing" represents the very finest of Mercedes. The owner thought it would be a good idea to race this million dollar car on the streets of Mexico , at the annual "La Carrera Panamericana" race - limited to classic cars produced before 1965.

#7. Jaguar XJ220 ... $1.1 Million
The XJ220 once held the record for highest top speed for a production car (217 mph)

#6. Ferrari Enzo ... $1.3 million
The most famous Ferrari Enzo crash (shown above) was at Malibu , California in 2005, when the driver, "Fat Steven" Eriksson crashed the car at 196 mph.

#5. Bugatti Veyron ... $1.6 million
The Bugatti Veyron is the most expensive production car in history. Only 300 are expected to be produced, and already two have crashed. Above is the first one.  The driver thought it was okay to speed at 100 mph in the rain. He only had the car for one week.

#4. 1959 Ferrari 250 GT TDF..... $1.65 million
This extremely rare classic car, the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT "Tour de France", crashed into a wall at the Shell Ferrari-Maserati Historic Challenge in 2003.

#3. Ferrari 250 GT Spyder ... $10.9 Million
The record price for a 1961 250 GT California Spyder at auction was set on May 18, 2008 when a black one was sold for $10,894,900. So what is one doing buried in the sand? The unlucky owner had it stored near the beach when a Hurricane hit.

#2. Ferrari 250 GTO ... $28.5 million
The 1962-64 Ferrari 250 GTO became the most valuable car in the world.  In 2008 an anonymous English buyer bought a 250 GTO at auction for a record $28.5 Million.
The crash represents a car worth more than the combined value of all 14 Enzos (see #6 above) involved in accidents. After a track event involving historic cars, the owner rammed into the back of another car after traffic slowed down.

#1. Tiger Wood's Escalade... $55 million and rising...to $300 million.
The most expensive car crash ever?
Final estimate to be determined by Elin Nordegren!  Ha..Ha.

Elin to Tiger Woods: "I want half of your $600 million fortune...and I'm keeping OUR (3) dogs, you can have YOUR dogs!"
Tiger Woods to Elin:  "I'll pay if you'll stay."

Solar eclipse on 15 Jan.

Year 2010 started with an annular solar eclipse on January 15. Not a total eclipse, still can see a 'ring'.  This is the longest (more than 11 minutes) annular eclipse of this millenium, meaning it wont happen again until 1000 years later!

Imagine in ancient times when people were not so informed about astro-science, and suddenly seeing the sun likes this would scare them. In cantonese they called this "heaven dog eat sun".  In old China during my ancestors time, frightened villagers would beat drums and gongs to frighten the 'heaven dog' away - so said my late grandma.  Modern day we know the heaven dog is actually our moon.

Yahoo news photo taken in Chongqing, China. Awesome.

Sunset partial eclipse in Philippines which lasted 2 hours.  Lovely.

Andy Lau dropped from HK Actors Association Committee

Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau was not voted into the 9th Hong Kong Actors Association Committee due to his secret marriage. Aha.....so his lie did affect him a little bit and he was not voted to be in the 21 committee members.  He was the most likely candidate to replace Alan Tam who was the outgoing  8th President.  Instead Eric Tsang was voted as the new 9th President.  The Actors Association members will vote for the 21 committee members, then the 21 committee will vote on who will be President and Vice President.

So lying has its consequences.

Girl cries tears of blood

Puzzling and bizarre.  14 year old Twinkle Dwivedi of Uttar Pradesh started bleeding from her eyes, hands, feet and other parts of her body since 11 years old.  (Signs of stigmata - some catholics link this phenomena to the cruxification wounds of Jesus.)

Jellyfish sting

Something of interest considering the fact that MM and her friend were stung by jellyfish in Penang in early December.
(Update 28 Jan 10: The friend is still suffering from the effects of the sting more than 1 month later in the form of rashes and boils appearing. Needed 2 more jabs to counter the toxin. The 1st week after the sting she had vomiting and diarrhoea.  Some say the body takes a year to be fully recovered.)

The deadly venomous jellyfish that stung the sailor is tiny, the size of a fingernail only. Freaky bad luck and he was not even in the sea, he was 80 feet above the sea on a big ship..

Some info about jellyfish.
Scyphozoan jellyfish stings are not generally deadly, though some species of the completely separate class Cubozoa (box jellyfish), such as the famous and especially toxic Irukandji, can be.

Jellyfish sting using microscopic cells called nematocysts, which are capsules full of poison expelled through a microscopic lance. Contact with a jellyfish tentacle can trigger millions of nematocysts to pierce the skin and inject venom.[22]

Jellyfish sting prey and threatening humans using their nematocysts, but only some jellyfish species harm humans. Even beached and dying jellyfish can still sting when touched. Sting effects range from no effect to extreme pain to death.

Stings may cause anaphylaxis, which may result in death. Hence, victims should immediately get out of the water. Medical care may include administration of an antivenom.

Beyond initial first aid, antihistamines such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can control skin irritation (pruritus).[28] To remove the venom in the skin, apply a paste of baking soda and water and a cloth covering on the sting. If possible, reapply paste every 15–20 minutes. Ice can stop the spread of venom until either of these is available.

As seen in the Friends episode 'The One With The Jellyfish', Chandler famously urinates on Monica's leg to relieve the effects of a jellyfish sting. Although fictional and the theory behind this is partly true, this is an urban myth. Urine, like the hot shower example above, relieves the pain of a jellyfish sting whilst introducing a sterilising property also.[citation needed] This combination can relieve pain on minor jellyfish stings, whereas a sting from a box jellyfish will not be cureable through this method.
