Bubul Bird eggs, hatchlings's photos.

Bubuls photographed by Gloria Joy Victor. (Mar 2007)

One of the parent bubul with food in its mouth waiting for opportunity to feed the baby.

Mother bubul feeding baby bubul.

5-days old bubul now crouching. Whenever I approach the nest the parent bubuls will shriek loudly to warn it of the danger - humans are
their enemies. Baby bird will crouch and remain still in the nest.

5-days old. View of bubul hatchling's back feathers.

4-days old. More wing feathers growing as well as on other parts of the body. However the feathers on the neck is still sparse.

4-days old. Stronger and sitting up waiting to be fed.
Eyes slightly opened.

4-days old. Eyes still closed.

2-days old hatchling. It is sleeping and eating throughout the day.
Eyes remained closed. Both parent bubuls take turns to feed it non-stop.
The first feathers to appear were on the wings. This is the most
important part of a bird and fastest growing - wings for flying.

Voraciously hungry and feeds non-stop. Whenever it sensed movements it will just open its mouth. It cannot differentiate between its own parent birds and predators just yet. I made a noise at it and it immediately opens its mouth. No knowledge as yet.

The first hatchling, really small. The other egg must be a 'bad' egg because it disappeared the next day. Probably didnt hatched and got eaten as food by the mother bubul.

Mother bird incubating the eggs, it will spend the whole night in the nest.

Father bird guarding the nest.

The next morning another red egg laid.

One reddish egg laid in the finished nest.

Unfinished nest, still under construction. Took about a week.

The red-palm tree chosen for nesting.

Bubul bird nest no. 1/Mar 07 - (Pycnonotus goiavier - yellow vented specie).
Birth of a baby bubul birdchick.
In Mar 07 I had the good fortune to witness a bubul building a nest, laid 2 eggs, one chick hatched, the other egg either didnt hatched and got eaten by the mother bird for food. I was suprised to find a bird flying to and fro every day to my red palm tree and upon inspection found an unfinished nest. I was very excited and photographed this process.

Valentine day

Happy Valentine's Day to my family and friends!

Pasta Zanmai restaurant in Mid-Valley. One of the early couples. Later this place was full of mostly young couples dining.
Mid-Valley is crowded with people tonight, guys buying flowers, girls holding roses, bouquet of flowers with teddy bears etc. Couples having dinners and taking photos to remember the occasion. Such a hyped-up commercialised American obsession resulting in overpriced roses and romantic meals.

In 1932, Niagara Falls was frozen due to very cold severe winter!

Chinese New Year has finished. Did not hear much fireworks as in previous years. Must be the gloomy economic recession.

Venus, the evening star now, is shining at its brightest in the west after sunset.

Jasmine Sambac

My bougainvillea plants did not produce much flowers this year, but my newest plant did not disappoint me.

Jasminum Sambac flower. (trying to figure out what specie - either Mysore mulli or Arabian Nights specie)
My Jasmine plant finally had its first bloom after 6 months of growth from a stem cutting given to me by my opposite neighbour. This bud opened the same night this photo was taken. Love the fragrance and the flowers are double petals.

Solar eclipse

Year of the Female Earth Cow! starts on Jan 26 with an annular eclipse of the sun which looks like a 'ring of fire'. However, in KL only a partial eclipse is visible. Eclipse starts at sunset 5.32pm. So probably the weather at late afternoon would be darker than usual and even weird. Caution: Dont look at the sun.

Some photos of the annular eclipse taken at different locations.

This 3 shots taken in USA.

This photo taken at Kuala Trengganu. Eclipse started at about 5.30 to 7pm.

Photo taken at Manila Bay, Philippines.

Photo taken at Indonesia.

Arowana fish

1.1.09 - Started 2009 with a foot massage because wanted to try. I was scared to try 'cos I have seen a woman limping home. RM20 for 40 minutes, from the knee down to the toes only. Was ok not that painful, actually it was good. (really a luxury for me but since it was new year considered it a treat for both of us.)

Kok Kai's arowana. Expensive pet. Purchase price around rm1800/- for a little fry. Now grown a lot and very silvery and golden tail.

Wedding

Marriage of Sue's daughter, Vanessa to Kenji Chan on 29.12.08.

The Program cover featuring the couple by the seaside.

Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brickfields.

The church, built in 1924.

Drinks/cocktails outside Mayang Sari Grand Ballroom before dinner starts.

Inside the ballroom.

Their wedding photo albums were displayed for guests to view and I must say the photos were very artistically photographed outdoors, on a beach in Langkawi Island. By the time I finished looking at the photos, I can feel the essence of love, romance, happiness and joy of holy matrimony; and makes me want to go to the seaside! I love the sun sea and sand. Thats great photography, unlike the usual studio-posed serious type. I now understand why KidChan is known as the Celebrity Photographer. He also happens to be the groom's brother.
